Lockdown

Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains and Wollongong, and parts of regional New South Wales are in lockdown until the Monday after NSW passes the 70 percent double vaccination target.

NSW AREAS IN LOCKDOWN

In Greater Sydney and parts of regional NSW in lockdown, the following applies — these restrictions also apply to the LGAs of concern.

You can leave your home to do exercise outdoors or to do outdoor recreational activities.
Community sport can only occur if it complies with the gathering rules (see below) and doesn’t occur at premises that must close.
You can resume swimming at outdoor public pools.
You must stay within your local government area when exercising outdoors or doing outdoor recreational activities. If you need to cross into another local government area, you must stay within 5km of your home.
You must carry proof of your address if you leave your home to exercise or do outdoor recreational activities.
Your face mask can be removed while you're exercising.
If you're fully vaccinated, you can exercise or do outdoor recreational activities with up to 5 people if everyone at the gathering aged 16 years or over are fully vaccinated.  The limit does not include children aged 12 or under.
Being fully vaccinated means you have had 2 doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination or have a medical contraindication certificate issued to you. You must always have proof of your vaccination with you to show a police officer — if it's requested.
If you're not fully vaccinated, you can exercise with 1 other person from another household. If you live with more than 2 other people, you can exercise together.
Indoor recreation facilities such as squash courts, indoor swimming pools, gyms, table tennis centres, health studios, bowling alleys, and ice rinks must close.
You're not allowed to exercise at a premise that should be closed.

NSW AREAS OUT OF LOCKDOWN

Gyms and indoor recreation facilities can reopen in regional areas of NSW that are no longer in lockdown. No more than 1 person per 4 square metres can attend. Classes are capped at 20 people.

You must wear a face mask in a class.
Sporting facilities, such as pools, can reopen.

Service NSW COVID Safe check-in: The Service NSW COVID Safe check-in app is mandatory across most businesses, venues and events. See service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/service-nsw-mobile-app for more details. If you don't have a smartphone, you can apply for COVID-19 check-in card at service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/create-covid-19-check-card.

Step 1: Complete a COVID-19 Safety Plan
Step 2: Register as a COVID Safe business
Access your QR code and business resources online (For businesses already registered as COVID Safe.)

Gym Staff Certification: COVID-19 Awareness in Gyms

Take the COVID-19 Awareness in Gyms training module and maximise the results of your safety plan actions.

Gym staff who complete this short online training will get 1 Continuing Education Credit (CEC) as well as actionable insights into:

signs and symptoms of infection
gym ventilation
hygiene and cleaning
and more.

Businesses and organisations listed here should use the COVID-19 Safety Plan for gyms and indoor recreation.
